If one wants a decent appreciation of the history of Christianity, you need to find and read the “lost” books. There is little in them that offers contradictions that matter but there is a lot to add background.
“The eclipse of the sun happened according to its usual custom”….at the time of the crucifixion
and there is this: “There is a certain bird called a Phoenix; of this there is never but one at a time…”
Thou shalt be simple in heart, and rich in the spirit
Thou shalt not exalt thyself
Thou shalt not commit fornication nor adultery. Neither shalt thou corrupt thyself with mankind
Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord in vain.
Thou shalt love thy neighbor above thy own soul
Thou shalt not destroy thy conceptions before they are brought forth; nor kill them after they are born.
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s goods
“…where the labour is great, the gain is the more.”
“But the love of money is the root of all evil.”
