Book Review – Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less, Newt Gingrich

Ah, how some of us dreamed of a debate between him and Glorious Leader….:)

The book is pretty much what the title implies…a list of things that need to be done to move us along faster to energy independence…all with an emphasis on the use of our own natural resources. A bit dated by now but still relevant.

Some notes I made:

This year (2008), mainland Asia bought more cars than the United Stated for the first time in history.

Speaking of drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR): If ANWR were the size of the New York Times, the area in question would be the size of a single letter on the page.

He goes into great depth to illustrate the means used to limit and/or eliminate our exploration and exploitation of the fuel resources that we have and the consequences to our economy as a consequence. Time after time, he puts the lie to the distortions of fact and science that the eco-elitist push on the folks.

At times the language is a bit shrill and caustic but the facts remain….renewable sources of energy are nowhere near capable of replacing oil, gas and nuclear and show no signs of being so any time in out lifetime. Discarding what we have costs us dearly….all in the name of ecological purity, which is mostly based upon lies.
