Book Review – Engineering the Pyramids, Dick Parry

I have been studying Egypt for over 20 years and have 100+ book related to the subject in my personal library. This one was a bit of a disappointment. It might better have been an article in Scientific American, rather than a short 170 page book.

The first half of the book was mostly a description of the major pyramids and as such it leaves a lot to be desired. It does have a couple of nice photographs tho…..

What is good about the book is the analysis related to the use of the wheel in the construction of the Pyramids. This is the best analysis of that option and it does a good job of debunking the other options like sleds and ramps. The description of the wheel option is pretty well done and convincing. For that, the book redeems itself.
