So the title of this will probably offend some folks….I don’t care.
I’m not much of a politically correct person so if that offends you…tough. I mean it exactly as it sounds…the USA is being turned into a weak and hesitant nation…what Mao of China once referred to as “A Paper Tiger”. All of this is due to the recent change in Washington with the election of a radical left-wing President whom I choose to refer to as “glorious leader”, in reference to the cult of personality that has grown up around him. If that identification does not please you, too bad. If you find it “disrespectful”, please refer back to the obscene treatment of President Bush by the same cult members. I resolved some time back to be as respectful of glorious leader as the left was of W. Don’t like that – too bad…go suck up some more kool-aid….only color it gutless.
What set this train of thought off so strongly was the explosion by North Korea of their nuclear weapon this last weekend. If you are of the opinion that the timing was an accident, you are a naive fool. This is just the most recent example of the response that the world has had to the new approach to the world that we have experienced under glorious leader.
As glorious leader himself said on April 2, 2009 in a speech in Prague on the very day that North Korea fired off a long-range missile test: “North Korea broke the rules once again by testing a rocket that could be used for long range missiles. This provocation underscores the need for action — not just this afternoon at the U.N. Security Council, but in our determination to prevent the spread of these weapons. Rules must be binding. Violations must be punished. Words must mean something.” Yes…words must and do have meaning. Did he think that noone was paying attention to his words and actions except for his political friends on the left in the USA? Did he forget that the rest of the world is watching and paying close attention as well?
Yes, words mean something as well as actions mean something. The thumb-in-the-eye delivered by North Korea is just the latest in the responses that his words and actions have generated. Do words matter? Well, lets take a look at some of the recent examples:
“Oversees Contingency Operation”….We have stood down from “The War on Terror”. As reported by the Washington Post on 3/25/2009, “The Obama administration appears to be backing away from the phrase “global war on terror,” a signature rhetorical legacy of its predecessor. In a memo e-mailed this week to Pentagon staff members, the Defense Department’s office of security review noted that “this administration prefers to avoid using the term ‘Long War’ or ‘Global War on Terror’ [GWOT.] Please use ‘Overseas Contingency Operation.’ ” There has been an across-the-board shift in the language that avoids any use of the phrase “war on terror”. You can see this in the speeches and press conferences. Do you suppose that it has been lost on the terrorists that we are no longer at “war” with them? This may play well in the halls of the left but the change has been noted in the caves of the enemy. It must feel good to the adoring crowd that we no longer have a war on our hands but it is a cruel deception. The language was deemed offensive to the Muslim world, so it was changed. I figure this is a part of the theme that if we talk nice, the other side will respond. So far, it seems the Taliban has not gotten the memo.
“Enemy Combatant”….As reported by CNN on 3/13/2009: “In a dramatic break with the Bush administration, the Justice Department on Friday announced it is doing away with the designation of “enemy combatant,” which allowed the United States to hold suspected terrorists at length without criminal charges.” The term “enemy combatant” actually has a long history, dating back to the second world war when it was used as a designation for enemy personnel who were bent on destruction but who wore no national uniform. The Bush administration used the designation to exclude these folks, in particular those help in Guantanamo, from the criminal justice system. That did not go over well with the lefties who, while hating everything that the Bush administration did, wanted to grant these folks all the rights and privileges of an American citizen. Fundamentally this continues the approach, started by the Clinton administration of treating terrorism and the terrorists as a “law enforcement problem” rather than an ideological conflict with people who wish to kill Americans. Don’t think that’s true Mr or Mrs or Ms kool-aid drinker – what did the Clinton folks do when the World Trade Center was bombed the first time, on 2/26/1993? They sent the FBI into action, put the bad guys on trial and ignored the terrorist connections. No effort was made to go after the people behind the attack…it was strictly a law enforcement problem. So…they are no longer to be classed as “enemy”……I guess they are just in need of some group therapy.
“Piracy on the High Seas”…..Anybody wonder what it says that it took 3+ days for the US Navy to deal with 4 teenage pirates in a rowboat who attacked a US ship and kidnapped its Captain? Ever wonder why the Navy did not act when the Captain jumped ship and was free in the water? Well, part of the answer is that it took some 300 conversations between the folks on the scene and the folks in Washington before it was finally decided to use force. There are conflicting reports from the personnel on the scene but it appears certain that the military was denied the right to respond immediately and with force and that the delay was caused in Washington. Reminds me of Vietnam when the President of the United States was deciding just what targets would and could be bombed…ignoring the advise of the Commanders in the field. Sure don’t want to offend any of those rag-heads now do we?
“The Moderate Taliban”….Both glorious leader and Hillary Clinton have spoken of a desire to locate and negotiate with what has been characterized as “moderate Taliban” members. The exact language used has not used the term “moderate” specifically but have indicated that they believe that there are some folks out there that are not all that bad. As Clinton stated 4/1/2009: “We must support efforts by the government of Afghanistan to separate the extremists of al Qaeda and the Taliban from those who joined their ranks, not out of conviction but out of desperation”. “This is, in fact, the case for a majority of those fighting with the Taliban,” she also stated. So….the majority of the Taliban fighters are just in it for the money and the rape priviliges? Give me an F’n break, this is just plain ignorant. Now this is an excellent example of the power of words to alter the landscape. Now we have “good” Taliban as well as “bad” Taliban. Who the hell do these people think they are fooling? I suppose there were “good” Nazis as well as “bad” Nazis…..The idea that the people who cut off heads and murder women have a “moderate” wing in the party is sick. Portraying these people as anything but total evil is not just irresponsible but it is criminal. The Taliban response has been to consider the offer “insane”.
“We’re safe now”….When glorious leader chose to release the internal documents related to the CIA’s enhanced interrogation techniques, it was one Dennis Blair who delivered the documents on 4/16/2009. In his statement accompanying the release he put things into perspective this way: in the months after 9/11, “we did not have a clear understanding of the enemy we were dealing with, and our every effort was focused on preventing further attacks that would kill more Americans. It was during these months that the CIA was struggling to obtain critical information from captured al Qaida leaders, and requested permission to use harsher interrogation methods. The OLC memos make clear that senior legal officials judged the harsher methods to be legal.”Blair continues: “Those methods, read on a bright, sunny, safe day in April 2009, appear graphic and disturbing.” So now we are safe in the hands of glorious leader after the years of the evil one…….so we can relax now. Do you feel comfortable and safe now? Again, the consistency in all this is that the real danger, if there ever was one, has passed and we can relax our guard and be nice to those who want to kill us. Am I to believe that the Islamic extremist have all disappeared or decided to give up their fight or suddenly converted to pacifism? This is crap. If we are so damned safe, why did so many New Yorkers run for their lives when Air Force One did its recent fly-over in New York. Guess they have not forgot and guess they do not feel so damned safe.
“To Scrape and Bow”….Is it an accident that glorious leader automatically performed a bow to the Saudi King? I don’t think it was a premeditated act; I think it was an automatic reflex. Then to have all his staff blatenly lie about it just compounded the incident. This was no accident…..it was an automatic action on the part of a man who has great reverence for the Muslim religion….a reverence he does not have for Christianity. It shows beyond any doubt the deference he has for Islam. While glorious leader stated on 4/6/2009 that “we do not consider ourselves a Christian nation”, he has made it quite clear that he will go to great lengths to appease the feelings of the Muslim world. He has made it clear that he is more aligned with the Palestinian side of the question of Israel that he is aligned with Israel. One should note that the statement made by glorious leader was made to the Turkish Parliament. As to the question of what we are as a nation…..we have engraved into our constitution that there will never be a national religion in the United States. Even though the founding fathers were almost all members of a Christian Church (51 out of 55 delegates to the Constitutional Convention) they knew the dangers of a national religion. But that does not mean that Christian principles are not at the root of the nation. The Supreme Court itself stated in Church of the Holy Trinity v. United States, 143 U.S. 437 (1892), that “this is a Christian nation.” They meant that this nation was founded on biblical principles, and that those who brought these biblical principles to this land and who implemented those principles in our system of government were for the most part professing Christians who were actively involved with Christian churches. By the way….has glorious leader even been inside a church since his election? He spent all those years religiously (pun intended) attending Rev Wrights church of damnation of America…..guess it no longer matters, now that he has gotten himself elected…..The facade is no longer needed. As reported on 3/5/2009: “He’s like any other president,” Wright said. “He’s a politician and he’s got to do what politicians do.”
“From one Glorious Leader to another”…..I started this out as a response to the detonation of a nuclear device by the North Koreans. Are we to assume this this is an isolated event, disconnected from any of the others? I don’t think that is rational. The leader of North Korea may be a bit unhinged, perhaps delusional, but he is neither stupid nor uninformed. The press wants to paint this event as something related to a power struggle in North Korea associated with the succession rights when the current dictator passes along. I see nothing anywhere to support this theory and I think is a politically based editorial decision, intended to insulate our glorious leader from anyone thinking that it might, in fact, be related to his actions, and inactions. The press has shown that it will stop at nothing to make glorious leader look good…but then, that is what a compliant press does for their glorious leader. It is critical to understand that the major set of cards in this game are held by China. Recently, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton journeyed to China where she made it clear that what the current administration really cares most about is that China continue to buy American debt. As she stated to reporters in Seoul, South Korea on 2/22/2009: “Successive administrations and Chinese governments have been poised back and forth on these issues, and we have to continue to press them. But our pressing on those issues can’t interfere with the global economic crisis, the global climate change crisis, and the security crisis.” Note that the “security crisis” remained undefined and last in the list. Is this an accident…I think not. Was it lost on Kim Jong-il? I think not…..It should be obvious that he has seen the reduction in pressure that has occured under glorious leader here in the USA, that he has seen his opportunity to proceed with his nuclear ambitions with no fear of retaliation and he has decided to take full advantage of the chance he has. As the usually compliant Washington post observed on 2/24/2009: “Clinton says she was only “stating the obvious” when she played down the importance of U.S. pressure on China about human rights issues during a visit there over the weekend. In fact, her comments understated the significance of what a secretary of state says about such matters, and how those statements might affect the lives of people fighting for freedom of expression, religious rights and other basic liberties in countries such as China.” Keep in mind that during the campaign that glorious leader was consistently critical of the way that the Bush Administration handled North Korea…..So here comes the better deal….After all, that Bush guy only managed to get the North Koreans to the negotiation table and he only kept up the pressure so effectively that the Koreans actually blew up one of their plants…but as this was deemed as a failure by glorious leader, they must have a better deal….
“Israel is doomed”….This part of the scene really pisses me off. It is obvious that the current administration has decided that all Israel has to do is to agree with everything that the Palestinians want along with the US acknowledging that it has been wrong all along and we will have “peace in our time”. Since taking office, glorious leader has made it clear that the only pressure he will bring to the situation will be pressures on Israel to comply with his wishes. He has made it clear that he is not of a mind to apply any pressures to the Palestinians or their backers. His sympathies clearly lie with the Muslims. Is this supposed to be a surprise?
Years later…still feel the same about that cast of characters and grateful every day that Donald Trump is President.
