We celebrated Christmas at Home with Melanie and her family and then in New Mexico with Alex and his family. Outstanding fun times.
Events & News
Special events that take place need to have a home and this is it…
On a rather cold day we went to Mount Vernon with Oliver
The family gathers for Thanksgiving Dinner at Matt & Melanie’s home…and a great time was had by all…excepting that loss to the Cowboys.
Had a very fine evening with friends from work at a BBQ hosted by Paul & Oscar…. Great company and great food and a good time was had by all.
Grandson Oliver spent the weekend with use while his parents have a romantic weekend. We went to Great Falls park for a picnic and walk. The next day we went to 3 bike shops and found him a larger and more useful bike. He had a bit of a hard time getting used to […]
We set out to take a 6 day vacation in North Carolina as we frequently do around Memorial day. We like to leave a few days early and stay past the holiday so that the drive there and back is not so terrible….little did we know…. This trip I’ve broken the pictures up onto a […]
Some pictures taken after the Mass and Ceremony (none were allowed during it) and from the party at the Gorman’s that followed
Pictures taken on the Deck….after an absence of several years, those beautiful Yellow Finches have returned.
Some of these were take some time back along with a few taken a couple of days ago…just for the fun of it. One of my favorite ways to spend time on the deck.
We had our traditional Easter Egg Hunt today in the house when Matt, Melanie, Oliver and Nora came to visit. My bride provided her usual spectacular brunch and the Grandchildren were a hoot. A great time was had by all….
We like to venture down to Sarasota around Jan’s Birthday. This time we stayed at the brand new home of Jim & Jim. Started with a very nice lunch with Diane & Fred, spent time around the city; had a couple really fine meals and took a walk on the beach. Also paid a […]
One Saturday we went over to Maryland to visit my Daughter and watch Grandson Oliver at a Hockey practice. He’s taking after his Dad here….
This was the biggest snowfall we have had in at least 20 years…Jan got stranded in New York City and I had to do all the snow work alone….
The original plan was for Mealanie & Jan to have “Tea” at the Willard…but, they don’t do that in the summer. So…we spent the day at the National Zoo. Temps were in the 90’s so it was hot…but a great time.
Joey & Pauline stopped for the day on their way back from the beach. Great to see them again.
We went to the World War 1 Memorial, then the World War 2 Memorial, then the Washington Monument then the Vietnam Memorial and then the Lincoln Monument. I had to leave before the Korean War Memorial to take Jan to the train. A very emotional day.
Oliver came over for the weekend and we got him out on his bike.
We went to Sarasota to visit Jim & Jim and to celebrate Jan’s 60th Birthday. Great time was had by all. Time at the beach, a wonderful dinner and a Nuovo party.
This was the last gasp of the hardest winter for snow we have had in a long, long time. According to the “alarmists”, this was supposed to have been a thing of the past by now.
There is absolutely nothing open in New Mexico on Christmas Day, which is as it should be. Years ago, we discovered the Bird Sanctuary at Basque del Apache and have made the pilgrimage there every year. Once the snow was so bad it was closed but not this year. It is a wonderful place to […]
We happened onto the “River of Lights” for the first time back in, I think, the year 2000 by just following a sign in the road. It’s a wonderful evening event that, due to timing, we do not always get to visit. Always very cold, always very kewl….
Over the years we have walked every “official” path & trail on the property and made up a few of our own. This is a bit off of the normal path. You can tell that it was just a bit on the cold side… Some more from Jan’s Camera
One of the great joys of the trip is dinner at the Seasons Restaurant followed by the walk thru Old Town.
After we arrived in Albuquerque, and the necessary stop at the Candy Lady, we head to Santa Fe where we stay 2 nights at the Inn of St. Francis. We know our way around the hotel so well that we know which room to ask for so that we get a slightly larger than average […]
Beautiful and cold hike up the mountain that overlooks Albuquerque. No chance to get to the top unless you want an 8 hour hike…:)
Our Wedding anniversary trip starts in Albuquerque with a stop to visit Jim & Debbie who run “The Candy Lady”, then on to Santa Fe for 2 days then to Ghost Ranch. Then back to Albuquerque for Christmas Eve and the walking tour of Old Town and the fabulous light show at the local Arboretum, […]
Celebrating Christmas with Matt, Melanie, Oliver and Nora at Home.
We spent a wonderful weekend in Texas with Alex and his family. The cows and the Maze were pretty kewl
